Renaissance
Party at Eastport Yacht Club
to
Benefit Annapolis Maritime Museum
The
Annapolis Maritime Museum will hold a "Renaissance Party" at the
Eastport Yacht Club on Friday, October 3, from 7 to 10 p.m.
"Hurricane
Isabel dealt the McNasby's building a serious blow, but the Museum
is very much alive," says Museum Chairman Buck Buchanan, "and we
need help. It takes the whole community to preserve and celebrate
our maritime heritage, so we’re inviting the whole community to
come join us as we celebrate our rebirth and the Great Chesapeake
Bay Schooner Race."
The
event had originally been scheduled at the Museum’s McNasby Oyster
Company building to celebrate the opening of the new exhibit on
Chesapeake Bay Schooners. Since the building suffered extensive
damage during the recent storm, the Eastport
Yacht Club generously offered to host the party in a tent
behind their clubhouse, and the party will become a fund raiser
for the Museum’s rebuilding campaign.
The
program will feature music by Them Eastport
Oyster Boys, a live auction,
liquid refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, and videos
of the schooner race. Special guests
include the captains and crews competing in the upcoming Great Chesapeake
Bay Schooner Race.
Tickets
are $20 per person and will be available at the door.
From
Annapolis City Dock, cross the Spa Creek Bridge to Eastport, turn
left at the first light onto Severn Avenue, turn left onto First
Street, and stop before driving into Spa Creek. Eastport Yacht Club
is on the right. There will NO PARKING on the EYC grounds.
